The final count of 2007 Census of Population stood as follows:

  • Total Fiji - 837,271
  • iTaukei - 475,739
  • Indo Fijians - 313,798
  • Others - 47,734

 International Merchandise Trade Statistics - February 2018

Provisional data for February 2018 was :

  • total imports $386.6 million
  • total exports $161.0 million

Compared to February 2017, total imports and total exports increased by $33.7 million (9.5%) and $40.2 million (33.3%) respectively.

Provisional Visitor Arrivals -  February  2018

Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for February 2018 totaled 48,798, an increase of 11.2% compared to a year earlier.

The majority of visitors to Fiji in February 2018 were in the age range 25-64 (68.8%), which accounts for the vast majority of the working age population.

The visitor arrival  by country and number were as follows;

1) Australia –  with 17,041 visitors
2) New Zealand –with 6,641 visitors
3) United States of America – with 5,951 visitors
4) China –  with 6,567 visitors
5) United Kingdom –  with 1,252 visitors

Consumer Price Index - April 2018

The All Items CPI for the month of April registered an increase of 1.7 percent over March 2018 [119.4] and stands at 121.4.

Details of price changes between March 2018 and April 2018 by expenditure class are as follows:

  • FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: +5.5%
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS: +1.4%
  • HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS: -0.8%
  • TRANSPORT: +0.3%

Construction Survey - September 2017

  • Total estimated value of work put-in-place was $135.8 million for the September quarter of 2017.
  • New building and capital repairs: 52.6 %
  • Current Repairs and Maintenance: 7.4 %
  • Civil Engineering Works: 40.0 %
