Overseas Merchandise Trade Statistics - April 2009

Provisional data for April 2009 was :

  • total imports FJD216.4 million
  • domestic exports FJD54.3 million
  • total exports FJD81.2 million.
The trade deficit for April 2009 amounted to FJD135.3 million.

The total number of passengers carried by local airlines in quarter 4, 2008 was 180,896 in the 718,848 thousand kilometers performed.

Domestic Flights

The total number of passengers carried in quarter 4 2008 was 66,600 in the 10,526 thousand kilometers performed.

Census 2007 of Population & Housing

The final count of 2007 Census of Population now stands as follows:

  • Total Fiji - 837,271
  • Fijians - 475,739
  • Indians - 313,798

CENSUS 2007 - The Government Statistician, Mr Timoci Bainimarama has been appointed as the Census Commissioner from 15 February 2007 for the 2007 Census of Population.

HIES AND EUS REPORTS - The Fiji Islands Bureau of Statistics has launched two surveys reports - 2002-2003 Household Income and Expenditure Survey and 2004-2005 Employment and Unemployment Survey on June 6 2007.

GENDER ISSUES IN EMPLOYMENT UNDEREMPLOYMENT AND INCOMES IN FIJI
Dr Wadan Narsey has launched his report on the 11 December 2007, which was funded by the AusAid. He used the Fiji Islands Bureau of Statistics 2004-05 Employment and Unemployment Survey data for this important gender analysis.
