The final count of 2007 Census of Population stood as follows:

  • Total Fiji - 837,271
  • iTaukei - 475,739
  • Indo Fijians - 313,798
  • Others - 47,734

 International Merchandise Trade Statistics - March 2018

Provisional data for March 2018 was :

  • total imports $449.3 million
  • total exports $169.9 million

Compared to March 2017, total imports and total exports increased by $77.2 million (20.7%) and $21.4 million (14.4%) respectively

Provisional Visitor Arrivals -  May  2018

Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for May 2018 totaled 67,290, an increase of 4.5% compared to a year earlier.

The majority of visitors to Fiji in May 2018 were in the age range 25-64 (67.7%), which accounts for the vast majority of the working age population.

The visitor arrival  by country and number were as follows;

1) Australia –  with 29,730 visitors
2) New Zealand –with 14,383 visitors
3) United States of America – with 7,059 visitors
4) China –  with 3,447 visitors
5) United Kingdom –  with 1,239 visitors

Consumer Price Index - June 2018

The All Items CPI for the month of June registered a decrease of 0.8 percent over May 2018 [122.0] and stands at 121.0.

Details of price changes between May 2018 and June 2018 by expenditure class are as follows:

  • FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: -3.0%
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS: +0.5%
  • HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS: 0.0%
  • TRANSPORT: 0.0%
