International Trade in Services, Quarter 3 2009

Provisional data on Fiji’s import of services for quarter 3 2009 was $203.7 million and export was $432.6 million

Compared to the previous corresponding quarter, import of services decreased by $54.1 million (21.0%) whilst export decreased by $22.8 million (5.0%).

Services recording surpluses were:

  • Travel $228.5 million mainly due to personal travel
  • Transportation $8.1 million mainly due to air transport
  • Government services $6.7 million
  • Other business services $ 3.5 million and Personal, cultural and recreational activities $0.5 million


  • Services recording deficits were:
  • Insurance $13.5 million
  • Computer and information $2.6 million due to data processing and database services
  • Communication $1.5 million due to telecommunication
  • Royalties and license fee $0.6 million and
  • Financial Services $0.2 million
