Quarterly Wholesale & Retail Trade & Repair of Motor Vehicles & Motor Cycles Survey Quarter 2 2011

The Quarter 2, 2011 sales and services income recorded by businesses engaged in the Wholesale and Retail Trade, Motor Cycle and Motor Vehicles Repair was $737.1m.

This represents an increase of 3.6 per cent over Quarter 2 2010 and 1.3 per cent over Quarter 1, 2011.

At the end of Quarter 2 2011, these businesses had stocks valued at $334.3m which was 11.3 per cent higher than Quarter 2, 2010 and 2.1 per cent more than Quarter 1,2011.

Caution: Data from the Quarterly Survey of Wholesale and Retail Trade and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motor Cycles have limitations eg some wholesalers also do retailing, but because wholesaling activity is more than 50 per cent of their operations, they have been classified under wholesale. Thus proper care should be taken when using these figures.
