Quarterly Construction Survey covers all private sector enterprises engaged in various types of construction work for the Private Sector as well as for
the General Government.
The total estimated value of work put - in - place during quarter 1 2010 was $55.9 million, an increase of $1.5 million or 2.8 per cent from the previous
quarter but a decrease of $18.1 million or 24.5 per cent from the previous corresponding quarter. Of the total estimated value of $55.9 million, $50.0 million was
for work done in the Private sector while $5.9 million was for work done for the General Government.
New Building and Capital Repairs
The total estimated value of work put-in-place for New Building and Capital Repairs during Quarter 1 of 2010 was $27.3 million, a decrease of $0.2 million or 0.7 per cent
from the previous quarter and $26.7 million or 49.4 per cent from the previous corresponding quarter. Of the $27.3 million, $3.6 million were for Residential Buildings and
$23.7 million were for Non-Residential Buildings. New Building and Capital Repairs accounted for 49.0 per cent of the total estimated value of work put-in-place, of which,
13.3 per cent were for Residential Buildings and 86.7 per cent were for Non - Residential Buildings. Hotels, shopping and educational institutions contributed significantly
towards Non-Residential Buildings.
Current Repairs and Maintenance
Current Repairs and Maintenance accounted for 17.8 per cent of the total estimated value of work put in place, of which 99.0 per cent were for work done in the Private Sector
and 1.0 per cent were for work done for the General Government. Of the total estimated value of $10.0 million, 14.4 per cent were for Residential Buildings and 85.6 per cent
were for Non-Residential Buildings.
Civil Engineering Works
Civil Engineering Works accounted for 33.2 per cent of the total estimated value of work put-in-place, of which 74.5 per cent were for work done in the Private Sector and
25.5 per cent were for work done for the General Government. Of the total estimated value of $18.6 million, 34.6 per cent were for earthmoving works, 25.0 per cent were for
civil engineering works and 40.4 per cent were for other types of work done.
