Hotels and Tourist Accommodation
Quarter 1 2010

• Rooms Available recorded an increase of 28,691 (3.3%) in Licensed Hotels, Resorts and Lodging Houses for 1st Quarter, 2010 when compared to the same period in 2009.
• Total Room Nights sold increased by (13.5%) for first quarter. Occupancy rate also recorded an increase of 3.4 percentage points to 38% when compared to 34.6% for Quarter 1, 2009.

• Both Bed Spaces Available and Bed sold increased by 3.6% and 20.9% respectively, while Bed Occupancy also increased by 4.9 percentage points compared to Quarter 1, 2009

• Takings from Accommodation, Sales of Food, Liquor, Telephone and Other Miscellaneous Charges totaled $118.7 million, an increase of 9.8% compared to Quarter 1, 2009.

• Paid Employment in the Hotel Sector increased by 9.3% compared to Quarter 1, 2009.
