Fiji's Earnings from Tourism Quarter 1 2009

Fiji’s gross earnings from tourism for Quarter 1, 2009 is provisionally estimated at $167.6 million. This represents a decrease of $25.4 million or 13.2 per cent below the gross earnings of $193.0 million for Quarter 1, 2008. The decrease is largely due to the 242,922 or 18.7 per cent decrease in visitor days.

Quarter 1, 2009 also saw a decrease in tourist arrivals from 130,762 in Quarter 1, 2008 to 100,331 a decrease of 30,431 or 23.3 per cent. The estimated average length of stay of visitors stood at 9.8 days.
