FIBOS Resources

Adapting international standard of classifications, FIBOS has developed a number of its own national classifications that have been applied successfully in different statistical activities. For example, FSIC was first developed prior to the 1996 population and housing census and have been used to code the industry descriptions provided by the respondents. It was later revised to reflect national changes within the national industrial sector.

Other national classifications have also been developed such as the "commodity codes" used in coding the expenditure items during the 2002 national HIES. FIBOS sees the development of it own national classifications as a priority and will continue to do so.

FIBOS hopes that by making these available on line, other NSOs within the region may find them useful as a guiding reference to developing their own.
