The final count of 2007 Census of Population stood as follows:

  • Total Fiji - 837,271
  • iTaukei - 475,739
  • Indo Fijians - 313,798
  • Others - 47,734

 International Merchandise Trade Statistics - November 2017

Provisional data for November 2017 was :

  • total imports $423.2 million
  • total exports $152.4 million

Compared to November 2016, total imports decreased by $61.6 million (12.7%) whereas total exports increased by $9.0 million (6.3%).

The November 2017 trade deficit amounted to $270.8 million compared to $255.0 million a month earlier (October).

Provisional Visitor Arrivals -  February  2018

Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for February 2018 totaled 48,798, an increase of 11.2% compared to a year earlier.

The majority of visitors to Fiji in February 2018 were in the age range 25-64 (68.8%), which accounts for the vast majority of the working age population.

The visitor arrival  by country and number were as follows;

1) Australia –  with 17,041 visitors
2) New Zealand –with 6,641 visitors
3) United States of America – with 5,951 visitors
4) China –  with 6,567 visitors
5) United Kingdom –  with 1,252 visitors

Consumer Price Index - March 2018

The All Items CPI for the month of March registered an increase of 0.4 percent over February 2018 [118.9] and stands at 119.4.

Details of price changes between February 2018 and March 2018 by expenditure class are as follows:

  • FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: +1.2%
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS:+0.8%
  • HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS:0.0%
