The latest aircraft statistics contained in this release covers international operations by local airlines. Services provided by the air transport operators include, transport of passengers or freight by air over regular routes and on regular schedules and non-schedule transport.

1. Passenger Kilometer Performed
International Flights

  • In terms of capacity, the airlines had 1,686,034 thousand of available seat kilometers. One seat (empty or filled) flying one kilometer is an available seat kilometer.
  • The international flights utilized 75.5 percent (passenger load factor) of the total seat kilometer available of 1,686,034 in the December quarter of 2016.
  • Compared to the September quarter of 2016 a 0.3 percentage point decline was registered in the load factor.
  • Compared with December quarter of 2015 a 6.3 percentage point decline was registered in the load factor.

 

 

 

 

2.Tonne Kilometer Performed

International Flights

  • The international flights utilized 70.6 percent (load factor) of the total tonne kilometer available of 218,870 in the December quarter of 2016.
  • Compared to the September quarter of 2016 there was no change registered in the load factor.
  • Compared with the December quarter of 2015 a 6.6 percentage point decline was registered in the load factor.

  • In terms of capacity, the airlines had 6,371,993 thousand of available seat kilometers.
  • The international flights utilized 74.6 percent (passenger load factor) of the total seat kilometer available of 6,371,993 in the year 2016.
  • The total number of passengers carried by local airlines on International flights in 2016 was 1,154,158.
  • An increase of 4.7 percent compared to 1,102,620 passengers carried in 2015.

  • Compared to 2015 the total revenue tonne- kilometer performed increased by 6.0 percent from 543,480 thousand to 575,917 thousand for international flights.
  • The total tonne-kilometer available increased by 16.6 percent from 712,668 thousand to 830,890 thousand for international flights.

 

 

 


Figures provided in this release reflect the performance of the local airline industry during the reporting period. They are to be viewed from a production and capacity perspective. Production takes into account the airline seat take-up together with cargo load while capacity covers available airline seats, cargo carrying capability and distance covered.
