The Quarterly Construction Survey covers work carried out by all registered Private Building and Civil Works Contractors for both the private and the General Government. It provides us with a short-term indicator of the sectors performance.

December Quarter

  • Total estimated value of work put-in-place was $133.3 million for the December quarter of 2016.
  • Total value of work put-in-place was up by 1.7 percent ($2.2 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2016.
  • Total value of work put in place was up by 9.1 percent ($11.2 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2015.

 

 

 

 

Value of Work Done for Private Sector and General Government

consDec16bFrom the total estimated value of $133.3 million, for work done in the December quarter of 2016:

  • 60.9 percent was in the Private Sector;
  • Total value of work done on Private Sector was up by 5.3 percent ($4.1 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2016 and 19.9 percent ($13.5 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2015 respectively.
  • 39.1 percent was in the General Government;
  • Total value of work done for General Government was down by 3.4 percent ($1.8 million) and 4.3 percent ($2.3 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2016 and December quarter of 2015 respectively.

 

 

 

 

Value of Work Done for New Building, Current Repairs and Maintenance and Civil Engineering

consDec16cFrom the total estimated value of $133.3 million, for work done in the December quarter of 2016:

  • New Buildings and Capital Repairs accounted for 49.9 percent;
  • Total value of New Buildings and Capital Repairs was up by 1.9 percent ($1.3 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2016 and 22.5 percent ($12.2 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2015 respectively.
  • Current Repairs and Maintenance accounted for 7.6 percent;
  • Total value of Current Repairs and Maintenance was up by 5.3 percent ($0.5 million) compared to the September quarter of 2016 and 22.8 percent ($1.9 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2015 respectively.
  • Civil Engineering Works accounted for 42.5 percent;
  • Total value of Civil Engineering Works was up by 0.9 percent ($0.5 million) compared to the September quarter of 2016 but declined by 4.9 percent ($2.9 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2015.

  • Total estimate value of work put-in-place was $513.9 million in 2016.
  • Compared to 2015, the total value put-in- place was up by 10.1 percent ($47.2 million)

 

 

 

 

 

  • consDec16eTotal value of New Buildings and Capital Repairs was up by 32.1 percent ($61.0 million) compared to 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • consDec16fTotal Current Repairs and Maintenance declined by 4.8 percent ($1.8 million) when compared to 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • consDec16gTotal Civil Engineering Works declined by 5.0 percent ($12.0 million) when compared to 2015.
