The Survey covers registered businesses engaged in Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motor Cycles that accounts for 80 percent of Total Turnover in this business sector. The statistics provides us with a short-term indicator of the industry‚Äôs performance.

  • Total Wholesale and Retail Trade sales stood at $1,025.0 million for the December quarter of 2017.
  • Total sales rose by 4.1 percent ($40.4 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2017 due to increase in the sale of motor vehicles and non-specialized stores with food, beverages or tobacco.
  • Total sales rose by 3.5 percent ($34.7 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2016 due to higher sales of food & non-alcoholic beverages and hardware materials.

  • Sales of automotive fuel rose by 1.8 percent ($6.0 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2017.
  • Sales of food & non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco & alcoholic beverages rose by 7.3 percent ($19.7 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2017.
  • Total sales of food & non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco & alcoholic beverages and automotive fuel rose by 2.7 percent ($16.3 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2016.

  • Sales of motor vehicles rose by 2.2 percent ($1.3 million) when compared to the September quarter of 2017.
  • Sales of hardware, paints and glass rose by 5.1 percent ($4.4 million) when compared to the September  quarter of 2017.
  • Total sales of hardware, paints & glass and motor vehicles rose by 5.4 percent ($7.8 million) when compared to the December quarter of 2016.

  • Total sales rose by 2.7 percent ($103.2 million) when compared to 2016 due to increase in the sale of food & non-alcoholic beverages and hardware materials.

  • Sales of food & non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco & alcoholic beverages rose by 3.2 percent ($33.7 million) when compared to 2016.
  • Total sales of food & non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco & alcoholic beverages and automotive fuel rose by 1.9 percent ($43.9 million) when compared to 2016.
