BUILDING MATERIAL PRICE INDEX- December and Annual 2017

The All Items Building Material Price Index (BMPI) for the December quarter of 2017 stood at 107.8. The index is compared to those of earlier periods to gauge the price movements of a representative list of Building Materials.

The All Items BMPI for the December quarter of 2017 registered an increase of 0.1 percent over the September quarter of 2017.

Detailed sectional changes over the September quarter of 2017 are as follows:

Wood and Related Materials: -0.1%

 

Cement and Related Materials: +2.3%

Higher prices were recorded for cement, aggregate gravel, standard concrete blocks, bond beam blocks and corner block.

Iron and Steel: -0.3%

Lower prices were recorded for 24 gauged standard ridge cap, double side aluminium sisalation and galvanized louvre frames.

Plumbing ware: +1.7
Higher prices were recorded for 20mm P.V.C pipe, W.C.suite complete pan, cistern & seat and wash hand basin.

Paint and Glass: -1.6%

Lower prices were recorded for timber primer, under coat, concrete paint, cemstik and obscure glass.

Floor and Wall Tiles: 0.0%

No price change was recorded in this category.

Door and Window Frames: 0.0%

No price change was recorded in this category.

Electrical Products: +0.8%

Higher prices were recorded for single power point, 2” tube light & fittings and lead wire.

 

Annual 2017

The Annual Building Material Price Index (BMPI) for 2017 stood at 108.0.

The index registered an increase of 0.7 per cent over 2016. Increases were recorded in the price indices of wood & related materials (1.9%), cements and related materials (1.8%), door window frames (0.8%) and electrical products (0.9%).
