Building Material Price Index

The All Items Building Material Price Index (BMPI) for the September quarter of 2016 stood at 106.3. The index is compared to those of earlier periods to gauge the price movements of a representative list of Building Materials.

The All Items BMPI for the September quarter of 2016 registered a decrease of 0.5 percent over the June quarter of 2016.

Detailed sectional changes over the June quarter of 2016 are as follows:

Wood and Related Materials: -0.1%

Lower price was recorded for dressed hardwood No. 1 framing grade.

Cement and Related Materials: +0.3%

Higher price was recorded for sand.

Iron and Steel: +0.1%

Higher prices were recorded for 6mm mild steel in concrete & blockwork and roofing nail.

Plumbing ware: -0.9%

Lower prices were recorded for 15mm Dia P.V.C pipe, 20mm Ditto P.V.C pipe, 75mm Ditto P.V.C downpipe, 100mm Ditto P.V.C pipe, steel sink (bench top), waste pipe 2” and thread seal tape.

Paint and Glass: +2.1%

Higher prices were recorded for timber primer, under coat, finishing coat, cemstik, no more gap adhesives and long nap roller.

Floor and Wall Tiles: 0.0%

No price change was recorded in this category.

Door and Window Frames: +1.8%

Higher prices were recorded for sliding doors and anodized aluminium two light windows.

Electrical Products: +2.9%

Higher prices were recorded for power point (single), light bulb (60 watts), light wire (twin red and white), starter, 2 pin plug and 4 way power point.
