Findings from the Quarter 2, 2015 survey of Licensed Hotels, Resorts and Lodging Houses are presented in this release.

Compared to Quarter 2, 2014

  • The number of Rooms Available increased by 1.9% (17,771).
  • The number of Rooms Sold increased by 8.8% (41,134).
  • The Room Occupancy Rate increased by 3.4 percentage points to 53.5%.
  • Both Beds Available and Beds sold increased by 1.7% and 5.7% respectively.
  • The Bed Occupancy Rate increased by 1.9 percentage points to 47.5%.
  • Takings from Accommodation, Sales of Food, Liquor, Telephone and Other Miscellaneous Charges totaled $242.4 million, an increase of 11.1%.
  • Paid Employment in Hotels increased by 5.9%.

  • The Room Occupancy Rate slightly increased to 53.5% from 50.1% in the same period last year.
  • The Quarter 2 Room Occupancy Rate for the last 6 years has been in the range of 44.1% to 53.5%.

The Coral Coast and Nadi Area had the highest number of Australian visitors.

A large number of visitors from the United States of America stayed at Hotels in the North and Other Islands.

Visitors staying in Hotels in the Suva Area were mainly from Japan and Other Pacific Islands.
