This is the first edition of an experimental release that brings together key climate change statistics and indicators with a gender perspective for Fiji, using the Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) 2019 – 2020 as a foundational data source. It aims to improve the integration of gender and climate data across the national statistical system and identify opportunities to enhance the quality and policy relevance of gender-responsive climate action.
This release highlights how climate change affects women, men, and vulnerable groups in Fiji differently, particularly in areas such as income, energy access and housing. Aligned with Fiji’s National Development Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals, the Fiji Bureau of Statistics is strengthening the gender – climate nexus by integrating more comprehensive data over time.
