The Fiji Bureau of Statistics has completed the rebasing of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) series to the year 2019. Using data collected from a wide range of sources, economic activities for the period 2019 to 2024 were measured and analyzed. As a result, Real GDP will now be compiled and reported based on the structure of the economy in 2019, ensuring that the estimates better reflect current economic conditions and provide a more accurate picture of the economy as it moves into 2025.
New Base
The compilation of GDP continues to follow the United Nations System of National Accounts 2008 (2008 SNA). Economic activities are classified according to the Fiji Standard Industrial Classification (FSIC) 2010, which is aligned with the International Standard Industrial Classification, Revision 4. The data used in the compilation are drawn from administrative records, surveys, and special studies undertaken by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
