  • Total Fiji - 837,271
  • iTaukei - 475,739
  • Indo Fijians - 313,798
  • Others - 47,734

International Merchandise Trade Statistics - July 2018

Provisional data for June 2018 was :

  • total imports $500.2 million
  • total exports $186.0 million

Compared to July 2017, total imports increased by $90.1 million (22.0%) whereas total exports decreased by $14.6 million (7.3%).

Provisional Visitor Arrivals -  September  2018

Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for September 2018 totaled 81,437, a record for the month of September and represented an increase of 5.7% compared to a year earlier.

The majority of visitors to Fiji in September 2018 were in the age range 25-64 (66.3%), which accounts for the vast majority of the working age population.

The visitor arrival  by country and number were as follows;

1) Australia –  with 35,585 visitors
2) New Zealand –with 21,675 visitors
3) United States of America – with 6,060 visitors
4) China –  with 4,070 visitors
5) United Kingdom –  with 1,000 visitors

Consumer Price Index - October 2018

The All Items CPI for the month of October registered an increase of 0.6 percent over September 2018 [122.2] and stands at 122.9.

Details of price changes between September 2018 and October 2018 by expenditure class are as follows:

  • FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: +1.4%
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS: +0.6%
  • HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS: 0.2%
  • TRANSPORT: 0.0%

  • Total estimated value of work put-in-place was $148.2 million for the June quarter of 2018.
  • New building and capital repairs: 52.8 %
  • Current Repairs and Maintenance: 8.4 %
