International Merchandise Trade Statistics - October 2018

Provisional data for October 2018 was :

  • total imports $552.0 million
  • total exports $257.5 million

Compared to October 2017, total imports and total exports increased by $86.3 million (18.5%) and $50.6 million (24.5%) respectively.

Provisional Visitor Arrivals -  November  2018

Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for November 2018 totaled 64,989, a decrease of 0.2% compared to a year earlier.

The majority of visitors to Fiji in November 2018 were in the age range 25-64 (65.3%), which accounts for the vast majority of the working age population.

The visitor arrival  by country and number were as follows;

1) Australia –  with 29,828 visitors
2) New Zealand –with 12,631 visitors
3) United States of America – with 6,913 visitors
4) China –  with 2,794 visitors
5) United Kingdom –  with 1,145 visitors

Consumer Price Index - December 2018

The All Items CPI for the month of December registered an increase of 0.1 percent over November 2018 [122.5] and stands at 122.6.

Details of price changes between November 2018 and December 2018 by expenditure class are as follows:

  • FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: -1.3%
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS: +1.5%
  • HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS: +1.0%
  • TRANSPORT: 0.0%
