DEFERMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT
SURVEY (EUS) - 2020 - 2021
The Fiji Bureau of Statistics wishes to advise the applicants for the Project vacancies of the Employment and Unemployment Survey (EUS) scheduled to run from August 2020 - August 2021, that the survey has been deferred to start from August 2021 - August 2022 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic that is currently facing our nation.
As such, the recruitment process for all EUS project vacancies advertised on 22nd February 2020 on the Fiji Sun is now cancelled until further notice.
Any inconvenience caused is regretted.

- Total Fiji - 837,271

International Merchandise Trade Statistics - January 2021
Provisional data for January 2021 was :
- total imports $313.2 million
- total exports $125.4 million
The January 2021 trade deficit amounted to $187.8 million compared to $177.5 million a month earlier (December).

Provisional Visitor Arrivals - February 2021
Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for February 2021 totaled 1,251. In comparison, in 2020, visitor arrival numbers for February stood at 46,343. Similar to the January 2021 numbers, this decrease is attributed to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions on international travel.
Of the 1,251 visitors, 634 came by air while 617 came by sea. The sea arrivals were mostly seamen on fishing vessels.

Consumer Price Index - March 2021
The All Items CPI for the month of March registered a decrease of 2.6 percent over February 2021 [114.6] and stands at 111.6.
Details of price changes between February 2021 and March 2021 by expenditure class are as follows:
- FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES:-5.6%
- ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS:-4.4%
- HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS:+1.6%
- TRANSPORT: +1.4%
CONSTRUCTION SURVEY - September Quarter 2020
- Total estimated value of work put-in-place was $119.9 million for the September quarter of 2020.
- New building and capital repairs: 53.9 %
- Current Repairs and Maintenance: 9.2 %
- Civil Engineering Works: 36.9%
