  • Total Fiji - 837,271
  • iTaukei - 475,739
  • Indo Fijians - 313,798
  • Others - 47,734

International Merchandise Trade Statistics - May 2019fbosicon2

Provisional data for  May 2019 was :

  • total imports $461.0 million
  • total exports $178.1 million

Compared to May 2018, total imports and total exports decreased by $77.3 million (14.4%) and $7.4 million (4.0%) respectively.

Provisional Visitor Arrivals -  July 2019fbosicon2

Provisional numbers show that 96,376 visitors arrived into the country in July 2019. The number was a record for the month of July and represents an increase of 1.4% compared to a year earlier.

The visitor arrival  by country and number were as follows;

1) Australia –  with 36,799 visitors
2) New Zealand –with 27,963 visitors
3) United States of America – with 9,926 visitors
4) China –  with 4,439 visitors
5) United Kingdom –  with 2,020 visitors

Consumer Price Index - July 2019fbosicon2

The All Items CPI for the month of July registered a decrease of 1.6 percent over June 2019 [116.3] and stands at 114.4.

Details of price changes between June 2019 and July 2019 by expenditure class are as follows:

  • FOOD AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: -5.0%
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO AND NARCOTICS: -1.6%
  • HOUSING, WATER, ELECTRICITY, GAS AND OTHER FUELS:+0.6%
  • TRANSPORT: +1.7%

  • Total estimated value of work put-in-place was $163.7 million for the March quarter of 2019.
  • New building and capital repairs: 52.6 %
  • Current Repairs and Maintenance: 8.7 %
  • Civil Engineering Works: 38.7 %
