The Quarterly Construction Survey covers work carried out by all registered Private Building and Civil Works Contractors for both the private and the General Government. It provides us with a short-term indicator of the sectors performance.

  • Total estimated value of work put-in-place was $134.4 million for the June quarter of 2017.
  • Total value of work put-in-place increased by 3.5 percent ($4.6 million) when compared to the March quarter of 2017.
  • Total value of work put in place increased by 6.2 percent ($7.8 million) when compared to the June quarter of 2016

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Value of Work Done for Private Sector and General Government

From the total estimated value of $134.4 million, for work done in the June quarter of 2017:

  • 65.0 percent was in the Private Sector;
  • Total value of work done attributed to the Private Sector was up by 5.0 percent ($4.2 million) when compared to the March quarter of 2017 and 22.7 percent ($16.2 million) when compared to the June quarter of 2016 respectively.
  • 35.0 percent was in the General Government;
  • Total value of work done for General Government increased by 0.8 percent ($0.4 million) when compared to March quarter 2017 but declined by 15.0 percent ($8.3 million) when compared to June quarter of 2016.

Value of Work Done for New Building, Current Repairs and Maintenance and Civil Engineering

From the total estimated value of $134.4 million, for work done in the June quarter of 2017:

  • New Buildings and Capital Repairs accounted for 51.6 percent;
  • Total value of New Buildings and Capital Repairs was up by 3.5 percent ($2.3 million) when compared to the March quarter of 2017 and 11.4 percent ($7.1million) when compared to the June quarter of 2016 respectively.

 

 

 

 

Current Repairs and Maintenance accounted for 6.9 percent;

  • Total value of Current Repairs and Maintenance was up by 9.3 percent ($0.8 million) compared to March quarter of 2017 and 11.8 percent ($1.0 million) when compared to June quarter of 2016 respectively.
  • Civil Engineering Works accounted for 41.5 percent;
  • Total value of Civil Engineering Works was up by 2.7 percent ($1.4 million) compared to March quarter of 2017 but declined by 0.4 percent ($0.2 million) when compared to June quarter of 2016.
