Fiji’s earnings from tourism for the September quarter of 2015 is provisionally estimated at $462.8 million. This represents a $49.6 million or 12.0 per cent increase over the September quarter of 2014 earnings of $413.2 million. The figures are graphically presented in Graph 1.


Australian visitors contributed $241.8 million or 52.2 per cent of the earnings from tourism with $93.0 million or 20.1 per cent attributed to New Zealand visitors.


Graph 2 compares the September quarter earnings in 2014 and 2015 for the major tourism source markets.

These countries accounted for 84.2 per cent of earnings in the September quarter of 2015, no change was recorded when compared to the September quarter of 2014.







The changes in earnings recorded by country were as follows;

  • Australia increased by $29.1 million (13.7%) from $212.7 million to $241.8 million;
  • New Zealand increased by $6.3 million (7.3%) from $86.7 million to $93.0 million;
  • United States of America increased by $3.3 million (10.3%) from $32.1 million to $35.4 million and
  • Continental Europe increased by $2.9 million (17.6%) from $16.5 million to $19.4 million.
